Online counselling is a great alternative to traditional counselling sessions.
I experienced online counselling as a client, as well as providing online counselling for my clients, and I find it just as helpful as when we meet in person.
My preferred application for online counselling is Microsoft Teams. Teams is free of adware/malware/spyware, and most importantly, it is confidential.
Preparation for Online Counselling:
• Have an internet service and a Microsoft Teams account.
• Have a space in your home where you can have quiet time for the session.
• Have a comfortable seating arrangement, a note pad & pan, tissues and water.
• Let other house members know that you are unavailable for that time and you request to be undisturbed (unless it is an emergency) so you can give yourself 100% to the session.
Technical tips for downloading and setting up Teams
• To download Teams, simply go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-teams/group-chat-software and download the program to your computer, which will then guide you through the process to set up a username and checking your audio and video connections.
